I can't say there was too much forethought into the 'to' at the end, but I think it was implicitly part of the lament, for the reasons you said. In fact there wasn't too much forethought into any of the lines, it's sort of like a sentence with internal rhyme that really suggested itself :)
This blog is a creative outlet whose overarching purpose has varied over the years. While once I had pretensions of fictional writing, nowadays I'm content with studying events and moments in my life that (I hope) mean more than they let on.
