It would seem that neither time nor inspiration exist in abundance during this particular part of my life's journey. I sorely miss the former, but I can do without the latter for a little while longer. As long as a lack of inspiration does not impact my desire for appreciation, I can pull through for a while yet.

Quick! Top 5 songs that define your life so far...

:) A High Fidelity reference? It's been a while since I saw it, so my memory is pretty foggy...

In case you were being serious, I'm afraid the question is truly unanswerable. Five is too small a number. A hundred might be more reasonable, though I'd have to start thinking too much for my liking! (Since the Doors came up last time, I can start by saying that "Break On Through", "The Crystal Ship", and "The End" are all pretty special to me. And those are just a select few off the first album!)

Ha ha I was being serious. I often go through periods when I am so busy and keep doing things and yet, at the end of the day when I think about what I've done, I've actually not accomplished much. Then I feel like I'm drifting aimlessly - your post made me think of that... I use the High Fidelity thing to get out of it - plus it's interesting to see how my music choice changes! These are mine:

1) Bittersweet Symphony - The Verve
2) Watching the River Flow - Bob Dylan
3) LA Woman - The Doors
4) Astral Weeks - Van Morrisson
5) Master of Puppets - Metallica

Fair enough! An interesting list, I approve especially of "Watching The River Flow". Surprisingly, Dylan has been playing that recently in his live shows, as it is stylistically of the same vein as his newer material!

Well ok, if we agree that the 5 chosen are 5 arbitrary ones among 100, then I might pick something like...

1. Stuck Inside Of Mobile (Dylan)
2. Terrapin Station (Grateful Dead)
3. The Soft Parade (The Doors)
4. Mother & Child Reunion (Paul Simon)
5. Now My Heart Is Full (Morrissey)

! The deed is done, now let the judgement begin... :)

Ha ha I won't judge your life! Stuck Inside of Mobile is one my favourite songs. Thanks to this I dug out my Grateful Dead albums and listened to them last night after a really long time!

Hmmm, Morrissey...I never been able to come to a conclusion about whether I like him or not. I've been sitting on the fence for years..

Glad that I managed to motivate you to hear your 'Dead albums one more time, looks like something good came out of this exercise :)

As for Morrissey, yes he's a bit of a love him/hate him character, isn't he? I don't discount the possibility that he's objectively not that good, but...subjective factors are too strong in his case.
